Often in times of sorrow and uncertainty, there are stories that come to light that either remind us there are good people in the world, or simply put a big smile on our face. The current covid-19 crisis has certainly brought out some of the best in us and this time, A-list movie star Matthew McConaughey has donned his bingo caller hat for a group of residents in an assisted living complex in Texas.
Movie star bingo caller
Residents at The Enclave assisted living complex in Texas, were treated to a fun night of bingo last Sunday evening, hosted by the famous movie star, via the video conferencing app, Zoom, and from the clips posted from The Enclaves Facebook page, it looks like everyone had their time of their lives! During a time when we are all having to either self isolate or social distance, we’re unable to visit friends and relatives, so for many residents in the facility, it can be a very lonely time. The excitement of an A-list star joining them for a game of bingo is a memory they won’t forget in a hurry. The sales director for The Enclave agreed saying“It was a wish come true! The residents absolutely loved seeing Matthew and his family and enjoyed hearing him talk about what he’s doing to get through this crisis. It gave them hope and was the boost that they needed to get through this lonely, challenging time.”
Lifted spirits
Matthew McConaughey had previously been asked if he could join the residents for bingo last September. However, with everyone now stuck at home and work grinding to a hault, what better time to take them up on their offer. After calling the bingo numbers for their Sunday evening entertainment, McConaughey hung around after online to have a chat with some of the residents and answer their questions. What a good sport Matthew and we’re sure all the residents absolutely loved it!
