Responsible Gambling Week is in full swing at this point, running from November 1st until November 7th (2018) and bringing together every major gambling operator in the UK and Ireland to promote the importance of responsible gambling. Under the slogan “Let’s Talk About Responsible Gambling” the campaign sees information, advice, and support being offered throughout the gambling world, including in betting shops, while workshops are taking place around the country to promote open and honest conversations with young people about the dangers of gambling related harm.

Responsible Gambling Week is being run by the Industry Group for Responsible Gambling and their Charmian, John Hagan, said of the campaign: “The aim of the week is to spark a national conversation about what it means to gamble responsibly, conversations between operators and their customers, between customers and their family and friends and between industry stakeholders. “The fact that every sector of the industry has come together to drive this campaign, which has been a year in the planning, and agree common messaging tells its own story. By speaking together with one voice, they can have maximum impact”

Many stories in recent years have shone light on just how easy it is to fall victim to gambling related issues, and campaigns like Responsible Gambling Week, as well as the increased focus on protecting vulnerable gamblers and young people from the UK Government and the UK Gambling Commission amongst others are important in giving support to those who need it, and helping more players avoid the pitfalls of problem gambling.
