Bingo has been a favourite pastime for generations. Playing down at the local bingo hall has always been a great social aspect in the lives of the Great British public for decades.
Still Popular
In a recent report by Midia, a media research platform, it looks like there’s no slowing down for this popular pastime as the great game of Bingo is generating £1M per year for the British economy, with revenues exceeding Spotify and Netflix combined! The study, which focused on the period between October 2016 and September 2017 claimed there are now more people playing bingo than Apple Music Subscribers and Amazon Prime Video Subscribers.
5.6M Active Players
4.8M subscribed to Amazon Prime, where 3.8M subscribed to Apple with a massive 5.6M Bingo players were active throughout this period. Numbers have no doubt increased with access to smartphones and online versions of the Bingo game, nevertheless, playing in bingo halls is still equally as popular, especially with the older generation as well as the younger players who use the experience as a social aspect, leaving behind the hum drum of everyday life for a few hours. Mark Mulligan, managing director for Midia explained that Bingo is still relevant to the British public. All in all, it’s refreshing to see this popular game is still on the rise leaving it’s counterparts behind in the revenue stakes.
