A 40 payline, five reel slot with a non-progressive jackpot of 50,000 coins, Microgaming’s Boogie Monsters is an entertaining slot in many ways, and is perfect for those who like something a bit different from their slot games.
Design and theme
Ghosts and ghouls is the theme here, which is nothing new, although Boogie Monsters adds the nice touch of all design being comical and pleasing. There is nothing worse than a slot that tries to be scary and Boogie Monsters acts as an effective parody of such sites. The comic like monsters on the reels are all very well designed and fun to look at, so it’s easy to play this game for an extended period of time without worrying about getting too bored.
Gameplay
The odd bit first, Boogie Monsters doesn’t have any Wild symbols, at all. This is very strange and is not going to be popular amongst those loyal to the normal gameplay you can expect from a slot. But what Boogie Monsters forgoes this popular tool in order to focus on the other aspects of gameplay, and it does it pretty well. For a start there are two different scatter symbols. Land three or more of the lava lamp symbol and you will receive 13 (obviously) free spins. Run of the mill you may think, but the 5x multiplier on all winnings from free spins is a step above its competitors. The other scatter symbol is the fat bat symbol. Three or more of these symbols will trigger a bonus round in which you find monsters with a torch. Three out of twelve possible monsters can be found, each bringing a different multiplier or cash prize.Above all else, Boogie Monsters is good fun, which is always a good sign for a slot game. The lack of Wild symbols may make you hesitant, but this game is definitely worth a few spins.
