Sun Bingo has become the latest bingo site to launch a mobile app, which will allow its players to continue getting their fix while on the move. Given that Sun Bingo has been online since 2006, it’s surprising we’ve had to wait this long.
Software will be provided by Nektan
Mobile gaming provider Nektan will be building the software for the app. The developer has been in the media a lot recently, as it has also been announced that it will be behind Channel 4’s new Come Dine With Me bingo app. Neil Martin, business development director at News UK, which owns The Sun brand, said: “Having carefully evaluated the market, Nektan were the stand-out partner for News UK to power Sun Play,” adding, “Entertaining our customers across different points of their media day is a key focus for our business.” Gary Shaw, executive chairman of Nektan, also commented: “We are looking forward to working closely with the team at The Sun to bring the exciting new Sun Play mobile games to millions of Sun readers.” Sun Bingo has quite a strong red theme on its website and any promotional material, and it’s unlikely that it will divert from that colour scheme with its Sun Play app. Nothing has been confirmed yet, but it’s likely that the app be based on the freemium business model, meaning that the app is free to download and some of the games can be played for free, but players can pay for special features. Sun Play is bound to have a selection of 75 ball and 90 ball bingo rooms, and a selection of slot titles, but whether there will be any new or exclusive games is unknown.
