Mecca Bingo in Hartlepool has started an initiative to provide meals for vulnerable residents during the coronavirus crisis.
70 meals a day
Despite the Mecca Bingo hall at the Lanyard Warrior retail park being closed due to the coronavirus, the staff still wanted to do their bit for the local community, so they have teamed up with the local council to provide around 70 meals a day to vulnerable local residents. Mecca bingo are working with Hartlepool council’s day services team to deliver the meals each day, with Mecca Bingo staff collecting the meals every day and driving them to individual addresses across the town. They will also be delivering meals to the University Hospital of Hartlepool.
Support in times of need
Jill Harrison, the director of adult and community services at the council, praised Mecca Bingo for their efforts, saying “We’re very grateful to the team at Mecca Bingo for supporting us in this way. This is another example of people in Hartlepool coming together to support each other in times of need – something that has been particularly evident to us throughout the coronavirus outbreak.”
