GVC Holdings has confirmed the news that has been rumoured since early November, and the operator’s portfolio has taken a massive leap forward as they have acquired Cozy Games. The reports came in early November when it was noted that the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) had revised Cozy’s licensing details, with the network of sites that Cozy operates now being listed under ElectraWorks Ltd, which is a subsidiary of GVC, alongside other GVC brands Bwin and PartyPoker.
The Confirmation
Although he did not go into detail about the terms of the deal, Jay Dossetter, who is the head of media relations at GVC, made the following statement: “I can confirm that we acquired Cozy Games, as a complement to our existing B2B and B2C product offer… “The acquisition is not material from a disclosure perspective and we aren’t making any formal announcement or disclosing further details.”
Cozy Games
The latest in a string of companies to be acquired by GVC Holdings, who are becoming a genuine giant of the industry, Cozy Games are best known for their bingo products and white label sites. One of the best-known names in bingo, especially in the UK, Cozy also have an array of popular slot games to their name that include UK themed slot Big Ben, as well as King of Slots, and the Egyptian-themed Treasures of Egypt. Nothing is expected to change for players at Cozy Games sites apart from a change to the license arrangement at Cozy sites, which players will be informed of, but Cozy is expected to continue running in much the same way as it always has under its new owners. GVC is rumoured to be eyeing up a deal with Ladbrokes Coral Group, and the offloading of its controversial Turkish operations recently is thought to be due to this intention.
